Wednesday Afternoon Drama Classes for kids

Wednesday afternoon drama classes for children aged 8-12 at the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles.

Our Junior Drama class is on Wednesday afternoons at the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles. Most sessions will be in the studio space, and some in the auditorium space.

We have two classes on Wednesdays: 4pm and 5pm.

The 5pm class is currently running and fully subscribed. The 4pm class begins on September 29th and has a few places left.

There is a maximum of 15 children per class and a waiting list will be made if necessary

The term’s course finishes with an evening presentation of work on

Wednesday November 24th.

The course dates for the 5pm class this term are

1. •September 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
   

2. •October 6, 20, 27
   

3. •November 3, 10, 17 and 24
   

The 4pm class runs from September 29th on the same dates

Fee: 5pm class £72 for the term (12 sessions), payable at the time of booking.

4pm class £48 for the term (8 sessions)

Each class lasts an hour, developing drama skills with activities such as theatre games, improvisation, short performances, voice training, stage craft, mask work and dramatic storytelling.

Our classes are taught by Douglas Roberts and Mandy Durkin, two locally-based drama educators each with over 20 years experience working with children and young people.

Our Wednesday classes are designed to be intensive, educational and exciting, focussing children’s natural energy into purposeful drama.

This type of drama work is highly creative and ‘hands-on’, using stories, ideas, scenarios and challenges to inspire children to originate their own work, and teaching them how to develop this into engaging stage performance.

Centrestage classes are for children with energy and imagination who are keen to develop drama skills and enjoy performance.

They are equally suited to the needs of boys and girls, targetting the particular and distinctive strengths of each.
